This is an independent website that provides information about Levitra. It is not affiliated with Bayer Pharmaceuticals, Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK) or SP and does not represent these companies in any way whatsoever.
Levitra, as with all drugs, can cause side effects in susceptible people. With Levitra, side effects are usually mild and transient. However, if you display what you believe could be a hypersensitive or an allergic reaction to Levitra, stop using Levitra and inform your physician immediately. An allergic reaction can exhibit itself in any of the following ways:
Common side effects of levitra include headaches, a blocked nose, flu-like symptoms, memory problems, upset tummy, back pain and facial redness.
Rare side effects - if you suffer from any of these, stop using Levitra and call your doctor: allergic reactions (as above), visual disturbances or sudden vision loss, ringing in your ears or sudden hearing loss (On October 18, 2007, the FDA announced that a warning about possible sudden hearing loss would be added to the drug labels of vardenafil and other PDE5 inhibitors.), chest pain, nausea, sweating, feeling unwell, an irregular heartbeat, priapism (prolonged erection), feeling light headed or fainting, seizures.
Levitra (and other PDE5 inhibitors including Viagra and Cialis) can decrease blood flow to the optic nerve of the eye, causing sudden vision loss. This side effect has occurred in a small number of people taking Levitra, most of whom also had pre-existing conditions including heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, certain pre-existing eye conditions, or were smokers aged over 50. It is not certain whether Levitra (or the other pDE5 inhibitors) were the actual cause of the vision loss. Nevertheless, if you have sudden vision loss stop using Levitra and seek emergency medical treatment.
You should also seek medical attention if you suffer from Priapism. Priapism is a prolonged erection of the penis. If you get an erection that lasts more than four hours, you should seek medical help immediately. If priapism is not treated straight away your penis could become irreparably damaged.
This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Tell your doctor about any unusual or bothersome side effect.
